MARYLAND DRAWS A LINE
On Tuesday, Maryland Governor Wes Moore signed emergency legislation that banned all formal partnerships between state law enforcement and ICE.
“In Maryland, we will not allow untrained, unqualified, and unaccountable agents to deputize our brave local law enforcement officers,” Moore said at the signing in Annapolis. “Because Maryland is a community of immigrants. It is not our weakness.”
Some sheriffs are vowing to push back. But the governor signed a law. Not an executive order or a press release. A law. That’s resistance with teeth—and it matters in ways that will last for years to come.
HE GRABBED HIS FLAG AND RAN
Joseph Zobel calls himself “an average Joe who grew up in Haddon Heights,” New Jersey. He’s a 36-year-old coach and counselor who, until last Friday, had never been to a protest.
That changed when he saw a doorbell video showing students running from their bus stop, screaming “ICE! ICE!” Trump’s masked agents of chaos had caused a panic.
Zobel said: “I just thought, ‘How can that be happening here in the United States?’” He then found a local Indivisible group holding an “ICE OUT” protest starting in just two minutes. He grabbed his American flag and headed straight to the demonstration.
A video of Zobel choking back tears, saying “This is not America,” has now gone viral. He wasn’t trying to become famous, he just wanted to “stand for what is right.”
America is full of people like him. And every time one steps forward, the resistance gets harder to stop.
THE COURTS TELL TRUMP NO AGAIN
The Trump regime refuses to move on from its mission to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia. So US District Judge Paula Xinis issued a scathing ruling that the US government can no longer detain him. Xinis wrote that the Trump regime “made one empty threat after another to remove him to countries in Africa with no real chance of success.”
Garcia spent months in El Salvador until a judge ordered his return. Then the regime brought him up on separate criminal charges and tried to deport him to Uganda. Then to Eswatini and other African nations. When that didn’t work, they detained him again.
His attorney said: “It’s clear that the only reason is to punish him for having the courage to stand up for his rights.”
The regime will almost certainly appeal, but as of now, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a free man. After everything this horrible regime has thrown at him, he is still standing strong.
NEW MEXICO PROBE INTO EPSTEIN
While Republicans in DC keep covering for Trump, the state of New Mexico has launched a real investigation into the Epstein scandal. On Monday, the state House voted unanimously to establish the Epstein Truth Commission, which will finally investigate a property Epstein owned in New Mexico called Zorro Ranch.
Not only does the commission have subpoena power—it’s bipartisan, run by two members of each party, including a former FBI agent and a former district attorney. So there is real experience behind the wheel. It already has a $2 million budget funded entirely by banks that enabled Epstein’s crimes.
Commission Chair and state Rep. Andrea Romero stated: “We’ve heard years of allegations and rumors about Epstein’s activities here. But unfortunately, federal investigations have failed to put together an official record. This Truth Commission will finally fill in the gaps.”
It’s about time. I’ve been investigating the Epstein scandal for over a decade, starting when Trump and his buddies were still laughing it off, and corporate media ran away from it. I didn’t stop then. I’m not stopping now.
On top of our reporting, our Midterm Accountability Project is building the infrastructure we need to take back Congress—driving a million contacts to the House and Senate by November and running social media campaigns that dominate the trends.
