Back when the Orange Baboon was first elected, one of my library TAs commented, 'Well, guess I'm going to be deported now.' That simply broke my heart and to this day, I have no idea what I should have said to reassure her. What could I say? False assurances that she wouldn't be? I couldn't promise that. Sadly, she did disappear a few months later and to this day, I have no idea where she is. Is it any wonder I abhor this entire regime?

It’s so sad that children have to even think about people coming to town to hurt them. I love the response from the Dearborn mayor to that child but we can’t promise they will be safe. So stay alert and be willing to speak up when events are happening in your community. I must admit that one of my MANY frustrations with SCOTUS is when they won’t allow gun laws banning assault weapons. They weren’t around when the constitution was written so why do they continue to rule against rules regulating them. We should be able to decide what we want in our states. Fuck John Robert’s and I really hope they investigate his shady deals with his wife’s law firm
Unfortunately, the not so Supreme Court allowed building of Trump's ballroom to continue. The rest of what happened is just background noise to him.
The tariffs applied to everything Canadian has basically ended centuries of cooperation between two neighbors. Canada will look elsewhere for ttade, but Trump and his delusional supporters don't care. As time goes on and Canada is buying from other countries all the things they used to get from us, maybe then people will realize the damage he is doing is not going to go away after he dors, but will linger.
That is the biggest issue of the past week and will have long lasting effects on all of us.
Scott, your posts help - a lot! - but my anxiety levels are rising the closer we get to November. I have to believe we will overcome this regime, but the damage that has been done is so severe, I wonder if we can repair it in my lifetime. I'm going to be 75 this year, and I have never been this frightened for our nation.
Ms Lowe, you can be sure Republicans' anxiety is higher than is yours. As Scott catalogues every day, they keep losing. And their reaction is to increase their efforts to cheat. And they keep losing anyway.
Love the story about NY and NJ doctors prescribing abortion pills -- but how do women in Louisiana and other red states get their prescriptions filled? Does this mean that the pharmacists aren't threatened with arrest?
They are probably sent samples. Or asked to pay a modest price for the pills. As you rightly guess, the actual physical pills can't originate in LA, or the pharmacies WOULD be threatened by the state.
Nothing like that has happened in my city - thank God!
Boy, that's a harder question - I think I'd like to find out where his/her parents are and ask them to help their child to feel safe. These days that may be a huge ask! I guess I would also tell the child to try not to worry and like the mayor just have fun being a kid.
