And there sits Faux News. The perpetuator of lies, bullshit, and distractions. This has to end. We can’t live with “news” telling lies.

Faux News is the enemy of the people. Except the people that watch it are clueless they are watching "State" TV.

We also got to publicize that Fox News lawyers admitted in court documents that they sell hyperbole, and that - no reasonable person would take what they are saying as fact - is something that must be told to the masses. https://thelegaledition.substack.com/p/undue-influence-what-willstrusts

That’s Trump’s MAGA State TV.

That's actually very true. this fake news and these people on there, that some of the public trust their opinions and actually believe what they're saying is true or that its actual news!! Does make them enemies of the state! They should be treated as such!!

Mary Kay: I agree. I also see that formerly “reliable” media (looking at you, NYTimes) —and to the extent they recycle and relentlessly and shrill-ly repeat old stories.. even MSNBC — go after revenue and eyeballs instead of judicious reporting and focusing on the things he that matter for the greater good of our society.

While I deplore Fox and the wretched spawn of the far right “news” world, I also decry the low standards we tolerate from media who were formerly more serious and responsible.

Mary Kay, Thank you. 💯

How do they continue to do this after being sued heavily for it! I guess some people rather live in an alternate reality!

Once in that cult, Lev Parnis has a lot to say about the role Faux News played in the many culture wars, mis and disinformation perpetrated by Faux that he witnessed.

Check out the new podcast with Denver Riggleman on Patreon. He has a two part interview with Lev Parnis.

Because when Ronald Reagan was President he and other republicans that supported him got rid of the "Fairness Doctrine" a rule that made sure you couldn't say one-sided opinions on the news! You had to have a counter point on also. That's how you keep everybody honest. and Reagan's rich supporters got rid of it! Look into "Reagonomics" it truly was the beginning of ending our "checks & balances" that kept everyone honest! Before Reagan Faux News never would have been able to exist. We need the Fairness Doctrine back, even in the private sectors.

The only network sued was Fox! Which is what all Trump fans swear is gospel! It's following his Bible he's selling that he autographed with his holiness!!! I have a Bible how do I get his autograph?

Our President! You go Joe. Yes, the media needs to stop all of the headline-grabbing distracting 'news' and focus on saving our democracy. Start putting T on page 13, and put the articles about the good things President Biden has done, and is doing, on the front page, above the fold!

There COULD be a healthy balance but you’re right, that doesn’t currently exist—giving him airtime before or after his trial days is utterly ridiculous.

if you are doing that, at least split-screen with fact checkers who can call out the lies as they are spoken. Kind og like having an ASL person at the rallys and speeches. Have an ATC (American Truth Checker) person at these events too! Will never happen, but should.

Expand full comment

We used to have that!! it was called the fairness doctrine, Ronald Reagan and his rich supporters got rid of it! that was when there were points & counter points, keeping everyone honest. They called it Reaganomics. But don't think that the founders we're unaware of this possibility, they did in 1776! We had what exactly what you're talking about and it was called the Fairness Doctrine.

Expand full comment

Sorry if it's hard to understand I was talking so fast that microphone couldn't keep up!! But don't think the founders were dumb they were smarter than any of us and our constitution was perfect! But when people in power started deregulating everything like including COUNTER POINTS on every news story that was the beginning of all our problems.

I’ve been saying that since he ascended that damn escalator…if you take the light away from him, he will disappear. Had the media treated him like any other citizen, and not doted on his every word salad syllable, maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation. Without all the accolades and attention he would have slinked back under the rock he crawled out from under!

That is a thing. I remember when faux news came on the air. “Fair and balanced” was their thing. We started watching and quickly realized there was nothing fair and balanced about their reporting. When my husband started yelling at the tv, we turned it off and never went back! What a joke, but a freaking dangerous one, bc there are way too many people who believe the bullshit lies..and no matter how you present the real facts, they will deny them…we are so screwed…

Biden got in another zinger worth noting:

“Did you hear what Donald said about the major Civil War battle?” Mr. Biden said. “Gettysburg. Wow. Trump’s speech was so embarrassing, the statue of Robert E. Lee surrendered again.”

And if you haven’t heard what Trump actually said at Gettysburg…well, all I can say is, the guy is as dumb as a rock, but that’s pejorative to rocks.

Thought that was a great comment, as it encapsulates a vice president who was not only the object of Trump's ire, but one he had no problem seeing hanging from a noose. Many people have said this before, but it bears repeating: There is something very seriously wrong with a person who neither understands nor expresses humor, at least occasionally. The *only* time Trump *tries* to be funny is when he’s making a “joke” at someone else’s expense. He is a damaged man, for sure, and I’d feel sorry for him if it weren’t for all the mayhem and lost lives he’s responsible for both directly and indirectly. I then wonder why his millions of MAGAts don’t get that, too? It’s a gaping hole in all their souls, too, sorry to say.

Trump demonized the press and reportedly doesn't read much if at all.

His ability to use language is obvious and slipping--

Thank you, Mr.Dworkin! When I flipped on the television—the first peculiar uh, ‘thing’ I saw was Donny’s cemented hair! Couldn’t believe it! I thought, “Doesn’t this chump call the press “The enemy of the people?!?” (There’s a play by that name too, you know, written by Henrik Ibsen; doubt he read it!!) But there “‘Hiss’ Orangeness” was, grim faced, disgruntled and defiant. And yet, he looked so small. So defeated. AND—so STUPID. (Pssst! You made my uh, ‘morning’ as the bourgeois newbies that have taken over my hood are running a marathon on concrete at 8:00AM!!The copters are whirring and whirling as we speak. What fools..)

Was faux news entertainment at the dinner? Not that it matters, they don't care. However, there is no greater time in my life anyway, where the entire legacy news media outlets, those that actually do know what truth in journalism actually is, to "rise up" and report on the BS that has befallen the republican party through their mouthpiece, donald trump. It appears as though the SC isn't going to expedite a ruling in his immunity case therefore, it is up to the media to inform, with truth, as well as we the people, in November, when we vote blue and kick the sh** out of the maga republicans on the tickets in local, state, county and federal elections.
