NEW: It’s Election Day, and some races won’t be called tonight. That’s not fraud. That’s what counting every ballot looks like.

Trump’s DOJ already tried to freeze Alaska’s count, and a federal judge threw it out. Let’s make sure Congress has our backs on the rest.

https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-count-every-vote-and-seat-every-winner

Tell me below once you’ve sent it, and how voting went for you today or during early voting!

Kristina Jurecic's avatar

Sent! My son and I, in Columbus Ohio, voted early. We handed our ballots to poll workers and watched them place our ballots in the box. This was October 15, and it was busy! However, it's well organized. We've been voting this way since 2020.

Mary Vandemark's avatar

I took my ballot to my township voter drop box 2 weeks ago! Vote BLUE 💙

Patti Scott's avatar

Letter sent but still expecting MagaMike to play dirty

Judy Sherwood's avatar

Yeah, he is a smarmy little weasel. The disingenuous smirk on his shiny little face.

Using Christianity as a shield and a weapon to disguise his evil intentions.

Randi's avatar

I expect he will, too! Cheaters always cheat!

Theodora's avatar

I sent it to both my Dem Senators!

Debra Lewis's avatar

Sent! My brother and I voted on day one of early voting here in Virginia. I'm hoping tonight I'll get my first good nights sleep in two years.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

VA early voting was impressive! They blew straight through to 2022 early vote totals!

We took our 2 blue senior ballots to the Courthouse and deposited them there! Now praying there’s a blue wave happening now…

Gracie44's avatar

I sent letters to my Representative and Senator in Florida. 💙

Sandy S's avatar

Thank you for this new letter Scott. I sent it to Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray. Love my representation in Congress. Happy to say my vote has been received and added to the tally! May our energy stay strong for the weeks ahead, to get on with the restoration of our democracy!!!

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

Sent. I early voted on Oct 16. It was very busy but orderly!

MiddleChild's avatar

Sent! I voted today and it was a bit anticlimatic. No ICE agents. No DHS. No National Guard. Just a lot of people, judging by the conversations, voting blue and happy about it!

Joanne Steacie's avatar

Done! Voted early in person. Voted Blue!

Glenn Reynolds's avatar

Collins to Raffensperger in Georgia: “Come on! All you need to find me is 700 thousand votes!”

P. Campbell's avatar

Sent the letter. Voted by absentee ballot last week and hand delivered my ballot into the dropbox that was * inside* Town Hall!

SJS52's avatar

E-mail sent. Husband and I voted early!

Ms Jonington's avatar

Whatever happens tonight, we did the work. Proud to stand with everyone who showed up. Onward.

The courts are killing it! We the people will take back our democracy regardless of the ludicrous screams by the hyenas in power. Thank you Scott for all the heavy lifting you did.

Scott, I’ve never said such a statement (as it is nonsensical in any context but this one): You and Sam have been informative buoys through this swampy trump 2 term; keeping us informed as well as optimistic and determined, and reminding us that we aren’t alone in our utter horror of what’s going on.

I’m so glad I subscribe to you! To think, I didn’t know who you were until my pottery instructor told me about you folks!

THANK YOU AND ONWARD!!

Julie's avatar

"informative buoys" Love it, Wis!

Wis's avatar

;D (Don't tell my English teachers... I don't think they'd necessarily appreciate the bizarre metaphor!)

Richard Waddell's avatar

The plastic nature of English is one of its finest features,

and the more you understand the language, the more entertaining

it can be...like people!

Wis's avatar

I tend to stretch the elasticity of the English language to its limits, always have - it's fun!

;-)

Julie's avatar

Haha. Your secret's safe with me.

Randi's avatar

I agree with everything you wrote except the pottery instructor.

Thanks!

Wis, you always bring the good vibes!!! I think your description and sentiment is certainly what we can all agree with... This community has helped keep the light of hope shining... Definitely Onward!!!!

I have so enjoyed connecting with you, Michelle! We are each the choir and the preacher, we agree so much! ONWARD, indeed! This election marks about halfway through the first chapter of what we have in front of us - we have a lot to do! You and this community have been such great sources of motivation, solace and humor, it's been a godsend for me in this unbelievably cruel and insane era. I look forward to being here for the remaining chapters ahead! I have my heart set on a giant Dworkin Happy Party when trump and maga are gone and sustainability, kindness, humane humanity, protecting biodiversity, DEI and helping each other become virtues again!

Michelle K Irwin's avatar

Always comparable vibes!!!... thanks for sharing and word twists. Jumping on Scott's election coverage here in minutes... it'll hopefully be a pre-re-start chance to rein in this insanity!!

Wis's avatar

I was on with Scott and Sam, too - I saw your name scroll past at least once!

WHAT A NIGHT, eh?? Omigosh, I'm going to sleep well and happy tonight!!

Diane Edwards's avatar

In Colorado we are hoping for a broad Blue Sweep!! We've got the best candidates this year!

Wis's avatar

We have some great ones, don’t we, Diane? Here in Larimer county, we have Neguse, a quiet incumbent with a progressive bent, an articulate mouth and brainy brain - he’s my fave!

Kathy Nelson's avatar

I’m in the state of Washington. The day after I received my ballot, I dropped it off at the ballot drop box next to my courthouse. Although, Washington has vote by mail, I no longer trust the Post Office because of trump’s shenanigans.

I’m 75. When I turned 21, I voted and I have never missed an election.

Linnea Volkmar's avatar

Me too, Kathy! We have been taking ours to King County Elections Office on election days ever since this horrid regime has been in power 10 years ago! I am also 75 and also protested the war back in the 60's and with "No Kings" now.

Sandy S's avatar

Me three Kathy and Linnea, I'm also in my late 70's and was raised in King County, and have always voted. I now live on the Olympic Peninsula and can take my ballot to the local court house. I love being able to go online and see that it has been received and tallied!!! We have a beautiful state ladies!! Love being here with you to protect and share it!!!

Lori LeClaire's avatar

I admire all heroes voting in every election! Since I turned 18, I tried to vote in every single election. I’m 65 now, and I’ve missed a couple elections during a time when I was involved with an abuser. I understand how this Regime’s abusiveness has a purpose: to confuse, upset, lose one’s agency, etc. So many parallels between domestic violence and the physical and verbal violence Trump inflicts on us.

Sandy S's avatar

You bring up some good concepts of how our society has been corrupted Lori. I agree that rotten home life has a lot to do with our rotting country. WE must fix this! Be well Lori and keep posting!! :-)

Cinda Williams Chima's avatar

I voted early. Today, I'm working as a poll greeter.

Sandy S's avatar

Thank you for doing this Cinda!!

Patti Scott's avatar

My only prediction is we won’t know much tonight. The trumpy network still has dirty tricks to play!

Judy Sherwood's avatar

True, they have dirty tricks, a whole quiver full. BUT, WE the People are well informed, aware, and ready to call them out, confront their nefarious actions, make 'em their own dirt. Look at all the No Kings, 50501, citizens standing strong against ICE., increased voter registration... lots of indicators that say "we have had enough, and it's time for change!"

Julie's avatar

Exactly, Judy. And I have been hearing for sometime that the Dems have already created plans for every possible scenario that the regime might try to pull.

Sandy S's avatar

I'm with you Judy! They have unlawfully taken over the main steam media to slant the news. BUT WE SEE THEM!!!! Everybody sees them from around the world. They are so far out over their skies that they have no hope of sustaining what they have started. It would help if they had anything but blind loyalty to DJT. But, they don't. They are as dumb as a box of rocks. And they are going down.

Fred Jonas's avatar

You might be right about your prediction that the Rs will resist the election result. And apparently as always, there will some judge, or a succession of them, who will tell the clown and his stooges that if there's any room left, they can put their dirty tricks where some protestor recommended the clown put his arch.

Robot Bender's avatar

I'm worried that if he loses (likely) we'll see another J6. Trump's niece Mary says that if he thinks he's going down, he'll try to take the rest of us with him. I believe her.

Fred Jonas's avatar

Don't worry that he'll create another J6. Count on it.

Randi's avatar

That worries me, too!

Kristen Tikkanen's avatar

Tight in there with the arch, the ballroom, the helipad, and the 400+ trees from the golf course, but DonOld will try anything to keep things the way they are so he can keep grifting.

Fred Jonas's avatar

And recreating the world in his image.

Narcissus could take lessons from the clown.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

It depends on the state. I'm in NC, which generally reports pretty early (polls close at 7:30 pm. NC is an early voting state and they usually release the EV numbers pretty quickly. I expect at least the senate race to be called this evening.

The early vote looks good for Democrats and if Unaffiliated voters break our way, we will likely be in good shape unless there is a surge of Republicans on election day.

I was observing at a polling place in a Republican-leaning precinct. About 40% of the voters had already voted before the polls opened today. Except for the 20 or so people waiting when the polls opened at 6:30, there really were not any lines waiting to get in to vote. Of course there could still be lines when the polls close.

Sam Jones's avatar

Today’s the day. We’ve been building toward this for a long time, and I’m proud to be in it with all of you. See you on the other side.

Colleen Wetteland's avatar

I voted early via ballot box.

My fervent wish is that NO GOP candidate wins! At this point they are all fascists and that is NOT who we are! I know that is wishful thinking but ... I do hope we (Dems) win the HOUSE AND THE SENATE!

Dotty Hopkins's avatar

Three of us expats in Portugal printed out our ballots received via email from CA and mailed them back registered mail to be sure they got there. Then got notified this week all three were received and counted by Ballot trac. Ours was one of the new districts created due to prop 50. Polls close in CA at our 4:00 am, but I’ll be up early tomorrow morning to tune in.

Timothy M Dwyer's avatar

Good morning from Surprise, AZ, Scott. Polls opened at 6:00 am and there were about forty or fifty people in line when I arrived at 6- No Agents w/ guns but there were local police officers (in uniform with name tags and no F’n masks!). Some MAGA lovers outside (my district elected Trump + 30 and the esteemed Rep. Paul Gosar by a similar margin in 2024) but they weren’t bothering folks, but they did glare at my Union sweatshirt, which made new feel pretty good. By the time I found my way through the line and filled out my ballot, the lines had increased in length. Election officials were wonderful, welcoming and extremely efficient and professional. Keeping a crazy hope that the electorate dumps Gosar but realizing that may be a bridge too far for a MAGA + 30 district.

Linda Ollis's avatar

Voted early in SC. Fingers crossed for some Democrat wins for Senate and District 1 at the very least.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

Which District are you in? I live less than a mile from NC/SC line on the NC side.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

Is that in SC-01? I really like Nancy Lacore. I wrote postcards for her last month with postcards to Voters.

Sheryl L. Search's avatar

Thank you, Scott! I think we will have that blue wave, tensions are running high and Trump thinks maybe he’ll leave and become prime minister of Israel. This just shows how scared he is. He is like Narcissus, thinks his reflection is beautiful! So poetic that he stood in front of the reflecting pool yesterday for his final speech. What a deranged old man!

CREO by C. C. Yager's avatar

I voted early. No line, friendly and helpful poll workers, clear procedure, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Well worth doing early. It's raining today in Minnesota and I'm happy not to go out. I do not make predictions, and I say ignore the polls. What matters is the end result and we may not know it in all 50 states for several days. If there are any runoffs, it could be longer. I'm not really a patient person, but this is one situation in which I urge patience and understanding. If it takes longer, it doesn't necessarily mean something bad or nefarious. However, I also urge vigilance because this regime has been known to be unlawful in its actions. Happy Election Day!

I took my ballot to a drop box a couple of weeks ago. Had intended to drop it during early voting, but MD hadn't started yet. Very easy ( if you don't count the time I spent researching candidates and ballot questions). Got an email that ballot was received and, later, another that my ballot had been counted.
