Bravo to Mark & Ruben-they have done a great job getting the people’s messages out there. It’s Mike Johnson who should be taken to task for not allowing the government to open back up!!

Let's not get lulled into thinking MTG is doing the right thing. She's panicking because she is afraid of losing her seat. I for one don't trust her - the Republicans have shown us time and time again that they have no morals and ALWAYS have an evil agenda.

MTG wants to run for Governor of GA. But she might also be worrying about winning her congressional district. Maybe someone shared these statistics about GA-14 with her:

Total population (Oct 2024): 796.2K

Medicaid Enrollment: 134.6K

CHIP Enrollment: 18.9K

Combined: 153.5K

% of Total Population enrolled: 17.9%

Source: https://acasignups.net/25/04/18/how-many-people-have-medicaidchip-coverage-your-congressional-district

And then there is the impact of the Big Ugly Bill on projected ACA net premiums. Below is a state-level report for GA. It shows ~9.7% of families in her district receiving ACA susbsidies in 2025:

(NOTE: If you want to see a similar report for your state just substitute your 2-letter state code for "GA" in the above URL).

She seems to be genuinely concerned that her adult children are being affected by the expiration of the healthcare tax credit at the end of the year.

Well, GOPers do tend to take an interest if it effects them directly. Maybe she is worried the kids might expect her to pay?

Selfish is more believable that selfless when it comes to MTG.

I agree, when people do the right thing we should acknowledge it. On Epstein files and the ACA credits, MTG is on the right side. Even if her motives are selfish, her stance could result in others joining in, which is what is needed to break the lawlessness of this regime. Swalwell is indicating the dam is about to break. Let’s hope he is right.

They are forgetting the lowly taxpayers are watching! The serfs whose employers act like they will go out of business, if they take a week off they earned!

Besides being bootlickers and circus freaks, what has the GOP done for US recently?

“House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared on C-SPAN’s morning call-in program on Thursday, where he took heat from callers on both sides of the political aisle.

Samantha, a Republican caller from Virginia, told Johnson she lives “paycheck-to-paycheck” with “two medically fragile children” and a husband who serves in the military.”

I agree- I think we should all call his office and leave a message that starts with a variation of asking how his "Christian faith" informs his position to....

* protect pedophiles by refusing to release the Epstein files

* cut poor people off from Medicaid and SNAP

* defunded free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch in public schools

* discontinue international aid programs could have saved millions of lives

* provide $$$$ to fund new ICE agents to kidnap and brutalize families and even little kids and to build concentration camps like "Alligator Alcatraz"

* Defund life saving medical research

This list goes on, so pick one that resonates with you or rotate through them when you call.

What do you think about Senators Kelly and Gallego confronting Mike Johnson?

I think all Democrats should stand outside MJ's office and hold press conferences all day long. That would drive him absolutely insane.

What are your thoughts on Bondi bringing scripted attacks and opposition research to her terrible performance in the Senate this week? Of course she is doing that. All scripted words from the evil ones in the white bordello house.

I love the idea of the man in the chicken suit in Chicago. And how brave of Governor Pritzker to stand outside and say come and get me. I bet a lot of people would surround him if anyone did try to get him.

Bondi needs to be referred to her State Bar for investigation and disciplinary action, including potential disbarment.

Expand full comment
Kathy Hughes's avatar

70 lawyers and law scholars already signed and submitted a petition to the Florida Bar to investigate Bondi’s conduct as AG. The Florida Bar dismissed the petition on the basis it was claiming misconduct as a Federal official. They have been trying to have the petition alleging misconduct in office reinstated.

Federal attorneys can be disciplined through the Federal system and also through the disciplinary authority of the state where they are admitted to practice. I suspect that because DeSantis is governor, and his allies essentially run the state, the Florida Bar didn’t want to offend either Trump or DeSantis by taking the case. I would argue the Florida Bar is shirking its duties by refusing to hear the matter.

At the very least she needs to be repeatedly excoriated and ridiculed publicly for her truly execrable performance in front of the Oversight Committee. Scott is right to call it 'nonsense' and 'amateur hour.' She didn't even have the wit to ad hoc her own riposts and deflections to yes or no questions- when she couldn't find any more canned insults in her notes to hurl, she just stared blankly with a faint sneer on her face.

That is exactly the problem. I am not a fan of Jeff Sessions, but as Attorney General, he did remember the United States government was his client, not Donald Trump. I have no doubt Trump was pressuring Sessions to cover up for him and protect him, but Sessions refused to do it, and resigned as attorney general. Sessions then ran in the GOP senate primary in Alabama, but Trump refused to endorse him, so Tommy Tuberville got the GOP nod and won the election. Trump managed to put someone dumber than himself in as a senator from Alabama.
