Not only is he unsuccessful in running his miserable life, he also actually bankrupted casinos. Casinos! I mean, how inept does one need to be for THAT to happen ??
This strikes a chord with me and I hope many, many others. Biden is a decent man as opposed to the groper in chief. I hope there are more non-maga gop members who take this posture.
Not such a big name, but I hope it will lead to more Republicans having the courage to publicly endorse Biden. It would be great if it all climaxed during the Republican convention.
I totally agree with what you've said and the other comments as well. We need to reach out to our Republican members of Congress and request they follow Geoff Duncan's example and endorse Biden; even if they don't agree with all his policies, you can't deny he is a decent man in comparison to Trump. It's the only way decent Republicans can salvage their party. I'm not a Republican btw but I feel for the demise of that party.
Good idea, but I'm proud to say that my state (MA) has no Republican House members and hasn't had since 1997. Scott Brown won a special election to "replace" (hah!) Ted Kennedy in the U.S. Senate then lost to Elizabeth Warren for a full term in 2012. Ed Brooke, a genuinely decent guy back in the day when quite a few Republicans *were* decent, at least in New England, was the last MA Republican elected to a full term in the Senate. (Our governors are another story, but the Republicans among them don't have much in common with the Trump era's GOP.)
I grew up outside of Boston and lived there for 40 years. I’m shocked at how many right wing trumpers live in the state. Old friends…business associates…extended family. I always ask them why they stay instead of packing their bags for AL or MS. All I hear is complaining from them, but they love their schools and other liberal benefits.
When did you leave? The GOP has deteriorated remarkably in the last decade or so. Charlie Baker was an OK governor but rumor had it he didn't try for a third term in 2022 because he might not have got through the GOP primary.
I left in 2002. Most of my blue collar friends that still live there and a majority of my former classmates (canton) are right wing. Blue collar guys listening to Rush in their trucks all day when he was around. IMO MA is a safe Blue state but maybe I’m just unfortunate enough to know all the right wing nuts there! There’s a horse farm on the south shore that is run by an extreme right wing family and they took a good chunk of ppp loans (wouldn’t ya know!) that were forgiven. Everyone else can struggle but they are the deserving ones. ;)
Nope, it's not just you: the more rural areas of western MA are red red red. MA fits the pattern of so many states: urban areas skew blue and rural areas skew red. I came of political age when the Vietnam War and school busing dominated the news, and they both had a lasting effect on how I see things. Like the anti-busing forces, the "urban ethnics," weren't exactly sympathetic, but the shots were being called by a white judge who lived in Wellesley. That was before Fox and Rush et al., but it's not hard to see where at least some of their audience comes from.
Why am I not surprised? :-/ Thing is, the more you know about the state legislature, esp. the House, the easier it is to understand why MA often elects Republican governors, or at least did when the MA GOP was reasonably sane.
Cheney seems to be implying she will, but I don't think she has formally yet. Not sure Kinzinger has, either, but he's made it clear through his words tearing down Trump & all of MAGA that he intends to vote for Biden. I doubt Pence or Hailey will, but Pence has said he won't vote for Trump. I hope Hailey would at least say that much, but probably the best we could hope for is that she won't declare her support for anyone. After the shabby way Trump has treated her publicly, she should have no incentive to endorse him, but that hasn't stopped other craven Republicans.
Duncan showed his character & integrity along with his belief in the rule of law! No one is above the rule of law, including a former President who has been indicted & convicted! Praises to Geoff Duncan!
I think that we do need to, sadly, acknowledge how brave this is. Duncan is setting himself and his family up for, at best, hassle and death threats. Standing up for what is right is not always easy. But enduring possible threats to stand up and say “I choose decency and democracy over evil” is a choice I imagine most of us would not have thought we would have to do.
Love love love Geoff Duncan's statement about voting for a “decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass.” I hope that shames some other Republicans who claim to care about the country, democracy, and/or the rule of law into doing likewise.
Interesting question -- partly because I'm not sure who's considered a big Republican these days. The best of them are mostly persona non grata in the GOP these days. I'd like to see ex-MA gov Charlie Baker say he'll vote for Biden as opposed to just saying he won't vote for Trump. Also Mitt Romney (has he gone that far yet?).
We need every Republican who is saying they would never vote for Trump to take that one tiptoe further and endorse Biden.
These Republicans who go out of their way to make Trump seem like the antichrist but then do the “whatabouts” with Biden are the worst.
Swallow your pride and think about what’s at stake.
Agreed 100%
They’re cowards and trying to have it both ways.
Exactly Susan. They have to choose Trump or America. There is no in between.
Not only is he unsuccessful in running his miserable life, he also actually bankrupted casinos. Casinos! I mean, how inept does one need to be for THAT to happen ??
Exactly Kathleen!
Business genius.🤦🏼♀️🙄
BAHAHAHA
I'm still trying to figure out how Shrub Jr bankrupted an oil refinery in Texas🤣😂🤣
Idiocy is genetic through the paternal line? 🤔
We need Bush to endorse Biden to push TX BLUE!!!
Seriously they can end Trump’s reign of terror if they unite
And Christie, Haley.
This strikes a chord with me and I hope many, many others. Biden is a decent man as opposed to the groper in chief. I hope there are more non-maga gop members who take this posture.
Same here Michael!
Not such a big name, but I hope it will lead to more Republicans having the courage to publicly endorse Biden. It would be great if it all climaxed during the Republican convention.
He’s big enough for it to make a difference, maybe open the flood gates!
You could hardly pick a better state for such an endorsement. If Biden can get Georgia again, his chances of winning will be very good.
Totally agree James!
It’s big news in our state, Georgia! Took lots of guts to go against the grain!
Glad to hear from a Georgian that it's resonating there. Things are starting to look a little bit peachier 😉.

That’s a great idea Michelle!

Charlie Baker wouldn’t survive on the national right wing scene. Had a right wing racist relative from Hanover call him a Democrat just the other day.
Why am I not surprised? :-/ Thing is, the more you know about the state legislature, esp. the House, the easier it is to understand why MA often elects Republican governors, or at least did when the MA GOP was reasonably sane.
Geoff Duncan parted ways with Trump a while ago. He made his feelings known at the beginning of the Georgia election fraud case.
Yeah still is good to see him make it clear he’s endorsing. Hopefully it sets the bar.
A lot of republicans have, but many say they’ll still vote for Trump over a democrat. SMDH.
Putting party above country. In this election, it’s a choice between them. Stick to your party and
LOSE YOUR COUNTRY.
Best action any patriotic Republican should take: endorse and vote for Biden!
Absolutely! Anything less is supporting trump
Bravo!!!👏 👏👏
I’m hoping HAILEY, Pence and Cheney endorse Biden, although I think Liz pretty much has!
I agree maybe in a few months it could happen

👏👏👏 Nicely done ✅

Agreed Anthony!
This is wonderful news! We need more of this. We need the “normal” Republicans to come out against the MAGA MANIACS!
Agreed!

BOOOM! :)

I agree. This is spot on Kate!
More decent Republicans should follow suit immediately!
Absolutely Carol!

Same here. Who do you think the biggest Republican to eventually endorse Biden would be?
Interesting question -- partly because I'm not sure who's considered a big Republican these days. The best of them are mostly persona non grata in the GOP these days. I'd like to see ex-MA gov Charlie Baker say he'll vote for Biden as opposed to just saying he won't vote for Trump. Also Mitt Romney (has he gone that far yet?).
Looks like Romney is a no on Trump but not clear about who he is voting for yet. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/02/29/mitt-romney-vote-trump-biden/72787644007/
I haven't seen any updates since then either.
