The MAGA response to this whole thing was terrifying, and very telling.

Just more violent rhetoric. It’s awful.

Take a close look at the photos of the crowd in the NYX. There are many people who are holding up their middle finger and have angry mob facial expressions... these pics were taken before the shooting. It would be very interesting to see the transcript of the speech and what he was saying to incite these people to respond that way.....

My family thought it odd how the crowd acted in general no one ducked and covered and then the bird from some real down home folks before and especially after the shooting they looked unconcerned. The responses in general were weird if I was in a crowd and shots were fired I would be looking for the exit but this looked staged to me like the crowd was packing but no way the secret service would of allowed that.

Expand full comment

We thought so too, David. For one thing, I kept trying to see if some poor person got hit with the bullet that nicked Trumps ear. The people acted really odd in my opinion. They acted concerned, but wouldn’t they be hitting the deck if shots are being fired? I would. Do you know where the 50 year old man who did get a head shot was, in front or in back of the stage? There were a lot of questions in my mind. Not suspicious necessarily, just trying to understand.

Expand full comment

I caught that too and wondered the same thing.

Expand full comment

Well, and after the shooting, when the secret service were trying to get Trump safely off the stage (and he was acting the fool wanting his fist up picture taken) many in the crowd were giving middle fingers to the camera. Who does that? Are they nuts? And Trump wasn’t a bit concerned that others may have been hurt. Must MAGA always make the hateful assumptions about anyone not in their tribe?

MAGA Republicans are accusing 'Leftists' of inciting violence instead of taking responsibility, as usual. Democrats are unable to reason with the unreasonable, so let's focus on outvoting MAGA Christo-Fascist nationalist Republicans. 🇺🇸💙💙💙🇺🇸

The vile and uncivil comments coming out of the Republican Party and their supporters is, and has been over the last ten years, simply disgusting. Over 250 million Americans are NOT OK with the level of hate, division, gaslighting grievances, anger and violent rhetoric being spewed by the other 65 million who live in this country. It was interesting, and frankly, reassuring to hear people who were interviewed while leaving the rally to express their desire to stop the hate and division. There seems to be a more tempered tone coming from individuals who actually witness the consequences of the hate and mistrust which divides the country. Talk is a cheaper currency than experience. We need to not just listen to one another, we need to acknowledge that we hear one another.

Just talking to my roomie she said she always thought it would be a Republican she said “We want him out of our party!”

She’s so sick of him she has stopped watching the news. My other friend who is MAGA said Trump was also shot in the chest but had a bulletproof vest on. And that the media is covering saying the shooter is a registered Republican.

The cynic in me wonders how long the more tempered tone will last.

People are dead. We don't know much, but the MAGA people need to look in the mirror. Many of them have been talking about the violence they see as righteous. The rallies are full of interviews of ugly meanness towards Democrats. .

Trump and the Republicans are masters of projection. Remember the 2016 debate where Trump told Clinton that *she* was the puppet (of Putin)? Trouble is, when they look in the mirror, they think they're looking out the window.

Did any one expect anything different from the Republicans? Would have been nice and probably would have done Trump some good if they had renounced violence, but that would have been the big shock if they had. I still want to know why his Trump’s shoes were off. Does he wear lifts and not want to be so tall and such an easy target or what?

The fact that the guy was a registered Republican, who voted in the Republican primary, was a gun "afficionado", who hung out at a shooting range primarily frequented by Second Amendment rights people, has no influence on them. Add to it that Alex Jones had stated that the right would be better off if Trump were assassinated because there would be a backlash, and they seem to be looking in the wrong direction.

The motive is that this convicted felon is still allowed to be spreading its lies and treachery through out the country to keep its magats fueled up,and create the unrest, fear, hate and division we are all experiencing. He has NEVER been held accountable and stopped!!! Why??? Its having the freedom to continue to lie and bully everyone needs to STOP. Scott, believe them when people tell us and how us who they are. The response from the Dems was as expected...compassionate, moralistic and horrified that this happened. The cultists also responded as expected..."Sen. Tim Scott said, “This was an assassination attempt aided and abetted by the radical Left and corporate media.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote “may god have mercy on our enemies because we won’t.” These people want the second Revolution to begin ASAP which the leader of the cult encourages whenever and however he can.

The fact that the shooter (I refuse to use his name) was an registered Republican doesn't seem to register with the cult at all. They are solely responsible for what happened yesterday as they continue to threaten and promise "revenge". They want us to kneel down to Heritage Foundation's

Kevin Roberts, president of the group that has coordinated the Project 2025 policy plan, who said it could be “bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

I fear for the safety of President Biden and all members of his cabinet; all members of the Dem Party. But, this is not the time for the grassroots to stop our work registering voters and informing people about Project 2025. Turn off the news. Stay strong in our commitment to saving democracy.
