In addition, Indivisible is having a zoom tonight as a rapid Response to what happened in Minneapolis yesterday (www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/881793.

This is in addition to their regularly-scheduled "What's the Plan?" this afternoon. (https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/874938/).

We need as many people as we get out to a protest. K. Starling posts protests from across the country occurring in the upcoming week in her substack "We the People Dissent". She usually posts this on Thursday after noon or Friday morning. Although it might be a challenge this week because of a lot of pop-up protests. Here is a link to last week's protest calendar to give you a feel for how it works: https://thepeopledissent.substack.com/p/mark-your-calendars-resistance-is

We can’t wait until November. We need to make our resolve and resistance loud. We need to explain the danger we are in to the many uninformed people in our Country. The people who usually don’t vote need to understand that our Country, and the human race need them to vote in massive numbers in ALL elections., including local elections.

You can do that at the same time you work to boost turnout in Nov.

Here is a post with some ideas on how to get involved in boosting turnout:

When I feel my spirits lagging, I try to attend a pop-up protest. (I am fortunate that our Indivisible chapter hosts 20 - 25 protests each week around town and covering every day of the week).

My spirits are lifted by spending time with like-minded people and I am buoyed by the 90+% of the responses that are positive - honks, waves, thumbs up, peace signs, and fists raised in solidarity. And the people that roll down there car windows to yell thank you!

Are you a member of a local Indivisible chapter? I highly recommend it!

https://groups.indivisible.org/

I also recommend K. Starling's substack "We the People Dissent". Her Friday column is usually a listing of protests across the country for the following week. Here's a link to last week's listing:

Super!

I like to suggest Indivisible to everyone because (1) I am still encountering people who aren't familiar with it (admittedly way less likely for readers of this substack 😊) or (2) I am told (mostly in comments online) that "we don't have a chapter around here". But when I ask their zip code, it turns out quite often that there IS a chapter near them.

Action that one can take in this moment if you are uncomfortable with attending a rally in your area:

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley is pointing us to our agency! Watch, below, as she introduces a motion, on the Federal Law Enforcement Oversight Committee, to subpoena footage of Renee Nicole Good’s death.

The vote was split 50/50 and the motion failed. But don’t collapse yet! Look at the data:

There are 7 Republicans on the committee but only 4 Democrats on the committee. That means two Republicans voted in favor of a subpoena. They only needed one more vote!

That means there’s room to put pressure on the Federal Law Enforcement Oversight Committee!

Maybe more accurately, asking such a question would REVEAL their

defensive attitudes. A question is neutral (as it has been explained to me,

even if it is a 'leading question'), unless it's of the dubious variety as this

one:

'Is it true that you have stopped beating your wife?'

Maybe 'What was it that YOU voted for when you voted for this guy?'

I'm probably splitting hairs on this...

MAGA isn't a monolith. But it doesn't matter why they voted for him, it matters what they want. Often heard is respect from liberal “elites”, politicians who care about them, a good economy, and an end to ICE violently taking away non -criminals. And they don't get why Dems voted for Harris.

Americans have to unite to save this country. We need communication, tolerance, kindness, and respect. We need a purple United States. With a new motto: Release the Epstein Files!

People who don't vote should be bound, gagged, and stuffed under beds with dust bunnies and dirty socks.
