I think Biden’s reception shows how weary we are of this catastrophe-a-minute, angry, vitriolic, self-serving hate-monger in office and WE WANT STEADY, PEACEFUL, COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP BACK. Biden embodies that.
Yeah. Now it’s the opposite. It’s like those qualities are considered weaknesses and those possessing them are to be bullied and fired. It’s a grade school playground out there.
Only among MAGAts. The rest of us still want those qualities in all our leaders, and our neighbors, and our friends. How the hell do MAGAts get through the day? "Hell is Other People"!
Notice how quickly when asked about how he’s doing after kirk’s death the Felon did a 180 pivot to the ballroom construction…he gets off on making people’s heads spin. These inadequate media people need to think faster on their feet. He doesn’t miss a beat , why do they when they’ve been covering him for… Hmmm I don’t know 10 effing yrs?!
Have you seen very recent photos of him? The right side of his mouth is drooping seriously. Imho, the reason he wasn’t visible for about a week was because he suffered a mild stroke. I haven’t seen a recent video of him walking, has anyone?
Wis, we have heard of the 'shadow cabinets' of some countries, which operate as a counterforce to a corrupt or incompetent regime. President Biden might be viewed as a 'shadow president' to this savagely destructive regime, someone who constantly displays the leadership qualities that our 'supreme ogre' lacks. The present and coming round of progressive leaders need to draw from Biden's example and rebuild from the catastrophe that is the failed incumbent regime.
The number of people with common sense and caring hearts is so much greater than we all realize. Given the opportunity to demonstrate this in seemingly small ways, appeals to a far greater number than acknowledged.
There’s much to be hopeful about the resistance, Scott, and saving our democracy from the worst gang of thugs ever seen since Nazi Germany. But only if we all show up. We stand on the shoulders of the men, women and trans people who sacrificed everything for our right not to be subjugated, silenced, erased.
I would love to see gun owners exchange their weapons for muskets so they have what weapons our Founding Fathers had and used when our country was founded. You know, the ones they were talking about?
Yeah, the second amendment was not about every American owning a machine gun to pick off fellow citizens or political figures or to terrorize. I believe it was about defending ourselves against tyranny. Guess what? This is it. This is what the founding fathers meant: our current government most definitely qualifies and the founding fathers would agree, I’m sure.
My neighbor and I, both single women in our 60s, have discussed buying guns, just for protection. I owned a gun years ago and did target practice about once a month, but sold it back to the gun shop years ago. I'm scared.😞
I don't blame you, Megan. I bought a handgun in February and have been going to the range once a week since then. I was raised in a hunting family with long guns, though I'm not a hunter. I'm not encouraging anyone to do this unless you've thought it through. My very red state (MO) has NO gun laws, except getting a certificate to carry concealed.
I'm a senior and though I don't need one, I carry a cane which is also a weapon, just in case. I hate having to think like this, but I'd rather be a porcupine than a rabbit.
Yeah. I am, too. I probably should have added “yet” when saying I’m still not getting a gun, but I just don’t know if I could use it on a living thing. I honestly don’t. But it’s ironic that the folks who see what’s happening for what it truly is, are the folks less likely to be armed.
As Maia said in the original post, the founders had muskets; they couldn’t fathom AK 47s etc.
I couldn't shoot a defenseless animal, which is why I never wanted to hunt. However, as police lieutenant and a sergeant I worked with several years ago suggested if I wanted a gun in the house for protection, get a shotgun. Just the sound of it being racked ready to fire would almost certainly send the intruder fleeing. That being said, if your life is on the line, I think any of us would shoot that "living thing" if it means our survival.
Yes. True. And like you, I couldn't hunt (wouldn't hunt). I couldn't shoot a non-human either (not to say that a human would be easier, though some humans are pretty abhorrent, whereas nonhumans don't carry so much malice and hatred. They're usually instinctive, surviving as evolution "taught" them, and/or reacting to how they've been treated).
We see the very very obvious reaction to our wonderful Biden who I’m so grateful to him for all he has done for our country in the existing extreme response to Frumpy Trump who got what he deserves!
Thank you. I needed to read this today. I am having a hard time this week. On my daily walk through my neighborhood, I saw 4 houses flying their flags at half-staff. It made me sick.
I don’t know which way it would go but his wife might not be a gun radical and might have a different discussion about guns. As a maga wife, she really hasn’t been able to make her own decisions! That’s my hope🤷♀️
True but like it was until the fairly recent past, could be the "men" of her family/extended family take over to "do what Charlie would have wanted done" and keep her now truncated family "prayerful" and "on track."
That and all the magas telling those children about their dad the HERO,who was sent to HEAVEN by JESUS n God after he was killed by some dirty dem!
We have a friend who runs a small woodworking shop and in his storefront window he put a sign that said RIP Charlie Kirk. I’m really rethinking my view of this man who I thought was a good person. :(
I was floored when, someone who I thought was a good friend, posted this sickening tribute to Charlie Kirk on her Facebook page and in reading the comments, I found out that she voted for TRump. It hit me like a bullet, because this is a very grounded, kind and empathetic person, so TRump's influence goes way beyond just his MAGAt supporters. I'm heartbroken... 💔
Oh Megan… I know. A very dear friend for years…I’ve lost her. And I’ll never understand. People say we shouldn't lose friends and family over politics…and I’m like, this is WAY beyond politics. It’s about human decency and ethical behavior, kindness and morals. 😭
I've lost friends and family over MAGA. I no longer stay in contact with Trump supporters. I just quietly block them and move on. I cannot be friends with someone who voted to hurt innocent people because they're different from them.
I think that happened a lot this week. Some friends and I were noticing how many of our FB “friends” have voluntarily noped out or been unfriended. Two distinct reasons seem to be 1) vitriol toward the left, and 2) sick glorification of Charlie Kirk’s assassin. I don’t need either one on my FB page, so buh-bye.
Just a quick question - were they perhaps flying them half-staff for 9/11? I've done that every single year. I wasn't flying it half-staff for Charlie Kirk!
I am a lifelong Yankee fan. When I saw the same ballyhoo for a racist like Kirk at the Stadium comparing him to 9/11, it made me sick!😡💩🤡🤢🤢🤢🤮 rooted for the Tigers!
I agree Wis. But I have a very liberal friend who attended her town hall meeting of her rep in CA. She was angry at Raskin who talked to the attendees. She said we don't want a constitutional law lecture we want action!
Pam: Yes, but words and action aren’t (and mustn’t) be mutually exclusive. I think both approaches are needed. Lawful debate/arguing and action need to go together, or we become like trump/maga. We must not become merely reactionary, acting rash without thought. I think Raskin’s pointed statement, “You know precisely who is implicated in the Epstein files, yet you refuse to release them. Who are you protecting and why?” is, granted, something I wish he’d asked Patel in a public forum (not a letter) so we could watch Patel stammer and squirm in that wide-eyed, sniveling way he has, but Raskin confronted him with a pointed, direct, bare bones question nonetheless.
My friend has a trans kid so she’s doubly freaked out about everything that’s happening. I will pass along to her what you said! And I’ve been impressed with him. So had she but that Townhall kind of disappointed her, she wanted more fire.
Oh, I get it, for sure. Responding to a blatant, criminal, unconstitutional action (or conspiracy to NOT act) with *only* words is not enough anymore. There's no shame in this regime, so shaming doesn't do a thing. That's why lawful action must back up strong words. Fire in the heart must show through, too, in my opinion. Lip service and half-assed attempts at DOING mean nothing and do everything to demonstrate that we are as weak as they make us out to be. This is where Newsom, for example, gets it. And Pritzker.
Always good to read about the Resistance pushing back against MAGA Nazi policies and politics ✅
MAGA Nazis got a real shocker this week, just wish the mainstream outlets called Charlie Kirk out for his abhorrent hate speech Business model instead of branding him a “Conservative Activist”…
Charlie Kirk was a nasty MAGA Nazi, Prove me Wrong 🫡
Simple Biden cares about this Country and built things up. He's an adult.
Trump cares only for himself, tears everything down and is a whinny ass who doesn't lead, he incites violence and constantly fails and embarasses this Country.
AOC is a fine human… and relentless in her efforts to do good things. Thrilled we have her. And I almost forgot about Madison Cawthon. Good grief. What an idiot. 🤦♀️
Like so many, I’m truly anxious to get this embarrassing and vengeful period in America history behind us. The snippets of positive news you provide is very much appreciated. ✌️
The best comparison I can think of is seen when watching the Trump Administation dismantling all the programs which President Biden created, to improve the wellbeing of our country.

I miss Joe so badly that it hurts.😞
I miss Obama so badly it hurts and hurts.
I miss having a compassionate, intelligent, calm and rational person at the helm, period. And Obama and Biden were both that.
That used to be the minimum requirement for the presidency: "compassionate, intelligent, calm and rational person".

He was a steady influence badly needed today!
It is amazing how President Biden, the best President in my 78 years, looks younger every day…while trump is failing right before our eyes!
Thank you President Biden for all the good you did for America!
👏. (I’m glad Biden is doing so well. He deserves all the good karma he’s accumulated! I’m also hoping that trump’s karma catches up to him SOON.)
Have you seen very recent photos of him? The right side of his mouth is drooping seriously. Imho, the reason he wasn’t visible for about a week was because he suffered a mild stroke. I haven’t seen a recent video of him walking, has anyone?
I haven't. 'Course, I avoid watching any and all footage of trump "in action", or at least, I try.
I try to avoid looking at or hearing him, but the photos of his mouth drooping were on a Substack that I subscribe to.
Horrid of me to say, but: crossed fingers... (were I on my phone, I'd just post the emoji)
Me too!
I SO want Biden to outlive tRump.
That would just be the best karma ever. And Joe would attend his funeral just to honor the office he held, not the man.
Trumpy can leave this world anytime and then we get riled up about JD
Yes! So do I!
So do I!💪💪💪💙❤️🤍

Indeed Maia!
The Second Amendment has needed to be amended for decades! I'm so disgusted by the inaction on gun reform I could scream!!
I agree!
Me too!! I thought at least Sandy Hook might have been a watershed catastrophe, but no…
That was when I thought (hoped) it would all change. . . .
We see the very very obvious reaction to our wonderful Biden who I’m so grateful to him for all he has done for our country in the existing extreme response to Frumpy Trump who got what he deserves!

I'm sorry, but I'm mourning the deaths of over 2,000 people than for one man.
Agreed. CK was a paid shill/trolll/"influencer" who lived and died by his own words.
I feel badly for his violent end (which some including myself would view as poetic justice) but I won't miss him at all!
And while I do feel sympathy for their children, I also know that barring some radical intercession, those children will be lost to maga soon enough.
I don’t know which way it would go but his wife might not be a gun radical and might have a different discussion about guns. As a maga wife, she really hasn’t been able to make her own decisions! That’s my hope🤷♀️

Thank you Frankie
