When will Jim Jordan’s turn come?

Scott Dworkin's avatar

I would love that. We aren’t very close friends. 😂

James Rankin's avatar

Should've been 3 years ago, at least, starting with expulsion from Congress.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Expulsion should’ve been mandatory

James Rankin's avatar

At least that's what the Constitution says (Am. 14, Sect. 3). The anti-constitutional SCOTUS refuses to enforce it though.

DR JAGC's avatar

So why weren’t they expelled?

Scott Dworkin's avatar

So many reasons but we just didn’t have the numbers, almost no one in the gop was willing

DR JAGC's avatar

This is why we are broken. People like Stefanik, MTG etc have filled in the holes from the decent people who have left.

Joanne Filipo's avatar

Of course they weren't. 😡

Here is a reason even Democrats should be cautious: Think about impeachment. Nixon was threatened with impeachment for impeccable reasons by a bipartisan movement within Congress (which is why he resigned first). Impeachment at that point was very rare.

But 15 years later Republicans pushed for the impeachment of Clinton and succeeded, then they failed to convict. Ken Starr's "Starr Chamber" went on for years, investigating both Clintons for this, that & the other thing. President Clinton's behavior was stupid, but was it really a threat to the republic? I don't think so.

Now? The Republicans yell "Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!" whenever they don't like an elected or appointed official's policy. I'm 99% sure the same thing would happen with expulsion. Yes, six members of Congress have been expelled in the past: three in 1861 for supporting the Confederacy, two (in 1980 and 2002) after being convicted of felonies, and of course George Santos, who survived two expulsion votes before the House Ethics Committee report finally made it harder to defend him; 114 representatives, nevertheless, continued to do so.

Virtually none of the GOP will support expulsion around what happened on 1/6/21 because they're all in deep denial about it, if not outright complicity in it. But once expulsion of any longtime, well-entrenched Republican member is put on the table, the Republicans will retaliate by moving to expel any Democratic member who pisses them off.

You’re right. And how disgusting that we are here. The worst amongst us have been elected and have decided to work for their own enrichment and power rather than the US. I really feel that even when Biden wins decisively in November that the repukes won’t accept it and won’t certify. I feel Amerikkka is stupid enough to give repukes control of either the house or senate and this country will descend into turmoil. I’m terrified. And I don’t know where or how this ends.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

I don't either. WTH is holding this country together? I remember the line of Lily Tomlin's Trudy persona: "Reality is a collective hunch." I'm afraid the same is true of the US -- and that hunch is becoming less and less collective.

Hopefully soon

It’s comin. Stay tuned. 😏😎

Eww Jimmy Jords was in my state today. He's the worst of the worst and needs to be held accountable for his part in Jan. 6th and then a lot more! 🤢

Deborah McGrath's avatar

Hopefully the orange guy will be next !!!!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

I think he will get convicted in NY to start—any prison time seems to be after the election

Deborah McGrath's avatar

I would just like to see justice finally be done . He has done enough damage to this democracy and gotten away with enough criminal activity his whole life . It’s time for him to be held accountable.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Absolutely right Deborah

Erik S's avatar

As much as I’d love to see him in an Orange Prison onesie with DOC across the back…. It’ll never happen. At best we can hope for home arrest and incarceration. They will never put an ex potus in general population.

PJ Schuster's avatar

They should, he’d fit right in, it’s those ppl who love him. He’d be protected by the white supremacy gangs there.

Erik S's avatar

They’d sell him out.

Christine Hunter's avatar

Yes!! I could see him starting some sort of following in there but, not sure he’d be able to hide his true self. Such intimacy with those that worship him and reality is he hates those peeps. To be clear, their worship he loves, he thinks and has stated he thinks he’s above them. Don’t forget, it’s been well documented that he chose the republican party due to their stupidity.

Donald Rettmann's avatar

Unfortunately, you’re right.

Sam Ray's avatar

To the surprise of no one who understands narcissist psychology, Bannon is likely a sociopath.

Rstevens's avatar

I don’t think people realize how much damage he’s actually done to our democracy. He’s an awful human being. I hope he has a hard time in prison probably won’t but I hope he does. !

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Your’e so right! He’s done so much damage

Kiwiwriter47's avatar

"Thoughts and prayers, Stevie. Enjoy a door you can't open."

Scott Dworkin's avatar

But it was a nothing burger he said 😂

Sue Berland's avatar

Hope the rest of the TRUMP trash follows right behind him!

Kathleen at UniverSoul Heart's avatar

Isn’t it great when accountability comes a-knockin? Time’s up ⌛️

Kim Stirling's avatar

excellent news! Long overdue and hoping the orange twit is next!

Eileen Regan's avatar

How many people connected to Trump have been sent to jail?

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Over 1200 if you count Jan 6

Erik S's avatar

Not enough

Eileen Regan's avatar

Read, but the list is growing. And hopefully Trump will be on it soon!

Michelle Ponkutcat 060's avatar

It brightened my day to see that justice sometimes prevails! Now if it will only come full circle and encompass all the others that belong behind bars and in orange jumpsuits that are currently hiding behind high priced lawyers and a myriad of legal motions constructed to delay the outcome. Remember all this is at taxpayers expense. I for one can see those tax dollars spent in far better ways!

Monica P.'s avatar

Justice will be served.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Well, there’s a glimmer of good news. Now let’s do Trump ✌️

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Trump and Jim Jordan and the rest of the traitors 👍👍

Kathleen at UniverSoul Heart's avatar

Yes, let’s!

Erik S's avatar

Happy Day!

When faced with the daily ledger of cruelty and injustice, and the full posse of shits like Bannon,

my Nana would say:

“Well, dear that’s why there’s a Hell.”

Margaret deRouleaux's avatar

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!

Arlene Cohen's avatar

You made my weekend! Thx , Scott.

That’s awesome
