We never should have put him back in the White House or IMO, in the first place! To paraphrase the great Maya Angelou - when someone shows you who they are, believe them!
I had a normal breakfast, but I topped it off with a morning protest, as I do most Saturdays. There were fewer people than I expected because the weather was ideal for protesting, BUT the response from the cars driving by was overwhelmingly positive!!
So the Dworkin report was an accompaniment with my lunch!
Next on the agenda is to bake some brownies I volunteered to bring to a sign-making party tomorrow in preparation for No Kings!
War crimes can't erase sex crimes! Let's tackle DJT in the files and get him out of office sooner rather than later. The world is on fire because of an orange clown at the Resolute Desk.
If you are not a regular reader of Robert Hubbell's substack, I recommend you check out the most recent post since he is on fire. I especially like his new nickname for Hegseth:
⬆️ "There remains a remarkable disconnect between the bellicose rhetoric of Trump and Hegseth and the facts on the ground. According to Trump and his boy blunder, everything is going exceptionally well for America’s war on Iran. Indeed, Secretary of Defense Hegseth said that Americans didn’t even need to worry about the Strait of Hormuz being closed. See ABC, Iran war news and live updates: Hegseth says US ‘decimating’ Iranian military, ‘don’t need to worry’ about Strait of Hormuz.
And yet, the Strait of Hormuz remains closed for the 14th day, the largest disruption in global oil tanker trade in history. In a statement of profound stupidity, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said, “The only thing prohibiting transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping.”
What?! The reason the Strait of Hormuz is closed is that Iran is shooting at ships. Saying “that is the only reason” the Strait is closed is like saying, “The only reason a dropped rock falls toward earth is because of gravity.” It is a nonsensical, circular statement that suggests a dim intellect.
Hegseth said several stupid and dangerous things on Friday. During a news conference, he said that the US “would give no quarter” to Iranians. In military and legal terms, “giving no quarter” means “refusing to spare the life of anyone, even persons manifestly unable to defend themselves or who clearly express their intention to surrender.” Threatening to “give no quarter” is a war crime, even according to the Department of Defense’s Law of War Manual. See Raw Story, Legal experts alarmed over Pete Hegseth’s ‘no quarter’ statement.
But apart from the legal ramifications, telling the Iranians that the US will not follow the law of war and will commit war crimes invites retribution in kind. In threatening to commit war crimes, Hegseth is making all Americans and soldiers in combat less safe by telling our adversary that “no rules apply” in the conduct of the war.
What is not getting enough attention is the breaking of the emoluments clause, and Jared Kushner‘s illegal actions in the Middle East. The country had to pay millions of dollars because Republicans thought Hunter Biden had used his father’s name to gain enrichment.
We are being slapped in the face every day with Kushner’s enrichment and Trump‘s
Exactly the handwriting was on the wall years ago when JK received $2 billion questions should have been asked right then, and now he pushed his father in law into war in Iran! WTF?
Everything is a distraction from the fact that there is pedophilia throughout the administration and our society. But I do think that the files are continuing to get attention,
I am getting all my brain can tolerate on Trump scandals, thank you. The pit is inexhaustible. What gives me hope? You, Scott, and the Contrarian, Heather Cox Richardson, and Aaron Parnas… And art and blue skies.
And Robert Hubbell, Jess Craven! There are many stellar columnists now. I wish one of the good billionaires would set up a TV/radio station where these people could all appear in one venue.
We really have GOT to address and STOP trump’s total annihilation of the environment and climate and his literally forcing thousands of species into extinction after millions and billions of years of evolution.
I want to cry at how ultimately SUICIDAL, literally stupid, purposely ignorant, cruel and greed-driven those in power are. Trump is leading us into irreversible and deadly climate disaster. It’s thoroughly disgusting humans are going down and are taking an innocent world of nature with us.
It will in the UPPER 80s in midMarch this week, here in N. Colorado. We have no wiggle room- we’ve maxed out the earth. Weather and heat will get us all within a generation or two, at this rate.
We have to act FAST and instead, America (trump and maga) is accelerating the whole world’s demise, deregulating consumer protections, environmental protections, poisoning us all, etc
It’s maddening to helplessly watch these environmental atrocities occur.
Sorry so longwinded. I’m very passionate about this.
All good this is why I keep bringing up his attempt to sell off public lands, it's such an abomination and goes against whatever nonsense GOP acts like they support
I agree 100%. And I think this selfish, self-absorbed lunatic in the WH is a symptom for a trend in our culture at large, we're cut off from the larger-than human world. The way we're exploiting and abusing nature and the living beings around us, from cutting down the rainforests to CAFO's and factory farms to monoculture farming etc. -- it absolutely has to change.
(With technology and destruction of wild places, we literally have removed ourselves from the natural world. We live in cubes, drive everywhere, recreate in virtual nature or violent gaming, and don't even look up to see the world, our eyes fixed on our phones, our minds obsessed with meaningless, inane, even harmful trends based on nothing real. QAnon, "Pizzagate", etc-- these have no literal basis in reality, but entire, worldwide movements are based on air, on nothing... I'm rambling a bit, but thank you, Jessica, for your passion! Nature needs our action and voices! We forget: we're animals, too.)
Wis - You are so correct. It feels so otherworldly to see this administration not only ignoring decades of research and science and studies; but increasing exponentially most of the actions that had been limited or removed because of their negative impacts. To see and hear them denigrate and deny useful sustainable alternate energy sources is disgusting and probably only because you won't make as much money from them as you can with oil and coal. All tRump and MAGA seem to care about is how much money they can make right now WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CONSIDERATION FOR QUALITY OF LIFE tomorrow. I've been fighting to protect the future my entire adult life and I HATE THIS!
Debi, you are my SOUL SISTER. Amen to every single thing you say, I've been doing that my whole life, too, and I echo resoundingly your feelings of despair and helplessness at the country's and administration's utter thoughtless (or purposeful) devastating war on the climate, the wilds, wildlife, habitats - all of it. At least, that's what I hear you say you feel, and that's what I feel, too. In spades.
Thank you a gazillion times over for being as passionate as me about what isn't in the news hardly at all, but is of tantamount, critical importance!!
What pisses me off too is the arrogance, cruelty and total lack of empathy with which modern humankind treats the nonhuman life in the world. They were here first and they have no voice.
Which scandal deserves more attention? So many to choose from... Maybe the many times they have ignored judges' rulings and seemingly at least, gotten away with it. Should be automatically a crime, punishable by... something severe. But what gives me hope is all the independent reporters and analysists continuing to bring the facts to us - and the many protests organizing across the country. There are more of us than them.
A. For me, personally, the undeclared illegal war is the biggest scandal along with the capitulation of the media and the probable imposition of a media blackout of everything related to the orange fascist regime.
B. Substack and the group of incredible writers who continue daily to present credible insights into what main stream media refuses to cover.
🚨TWO URGENT ACTIONS TODAY: Trump's UNHINGED DHS pick—Markwayne Mullin—confirmation hearing tentatively set for next week! He defends ICE fatally shooting citizens, backs expelling US-born kids, objected to 2020 election results.
Tell your Senators: BLOCK this nomination! https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-your-senators-oppose-markwayne-mullin-for-dhs-secretary/
And tell your Reps to support Pam Bondi's impeachment: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-impeach-attorney-general-pam-bondi/
Done and done
Thanks Cindy!
Ditto, done
Done ✅
Done.
Letters about Mullin were sent yesterday; letters about Bondi were sent today.
It is frustrating it is taking so long to get Trump out of our lives‼️😡
On my walk yesterday, enjoying a stunningly beautiful, quiet,
peaceful and glorious spring morning, I felt like I was walking inside
a prayer and seeing it in its answered form. A day will come when
all these bad players in our administration are not around, when people will
more often simply feel the joy of being - something that does not cost money,
run out of stock at a store, or happen only after spending hours of
tedious work. 'Being' is central to being human, and being able to
enjoy that without having to be 'doing' as a condition is a blessing.
We never should have put him back in the White House or IMO, in the first place! To paraphrase the great Maya Angelou - when someone shows you who they are, believe them!
Boom. I trust inboxes are being flooded...
Done
DONE
Finished!
What’d I have for breakfast, you ask? Oh it was a big hot plate of delicious resistance wins from The Dworkin Report! 🥘 😋 🩵 💪
LOL LOVE THIS!
Best comment this morning, Ms. Jonington! And you are right, resistance wins are a most satisfying way to start the day!
That sounds so tasty, Ms. Jonington! You have gone and flung a craving on me!
If they found any fraud, it would be from republicans. And then the DOJ would just ◼️◼️◼️ it all 🤣
LOL

Yes Barbara, but I was hoping someone would release them other than the DOJ without any of the redactions!
Excellent point, Barbara.
YOU! You give me hope every single day when I read your posts! Thank you for that!
Thanks Marci!

How about Mark Cuban?
Excellent! Let’s write him and see what he says!

Absolutely! Change radically and change, like, 10 years ago!

Excellent news in Boca Raton, FL!
Agreed Chris!
I think we need to emphasize the reasons for the war
Distract from Epstein files
Distract from our failing economy
trump’s insatiable need for power and adoration.
The resistance, and you, Scott, give me hope. We must be vigilant about preventing all maga attempts to interfere with/ steal our elections
#2 HOPE? THE WIND HAS SHIFTED. THE TIDE HAS TURNED.
