It was funny and well done in the way only Jon Stewart could have. His expressions are as hilarious as what he says.

I was so mad about Colbert as I love him, and then Trump commented “And said good, Jimmy Kimmel is next” this guy is a jerk who does he think he is? We all watched the events on January 6th & then he went after those that were on The Committee, I am on Bluesky thanks to Rachael Maddow from MSNBC and I have spoken to Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney about this. Yes they are Republican’s, but they are decent people unlike MAGA Mike Johnson. We must win The Midterm’s then the jerk will be a lame duck

⬆️"It begins this year in Va. & NJ"

Don't forget PA races for state Supreme Court. Three "liberal' (aka non-MAGA) justices are up for retention elections in November.

Vote Forward has 2 letter writing campaigns for PA. Other than Supreme Court races it is mostly local elections in PA, so definitely LOW TURNOUT. Low Turnout elections are when Vote Forward does it's best work!!

https://ballotpedia.org/Pennsylvania_elections,_2025

See this "how to" document to get started:

https://votefwd.org/instructions

LOTS of postcard writing opportunities for all three states:

* Field Team 6 (https://fieldteam6.herokuapp.com/getting_started) to register new Voters in PA and NJ (VA completed)

* Postcards to Swing States (https://turnoutpac.org/postcards/) write and hold postcards for NJ, PA, and VA plus special "Informed Voter" campaigns in VA

* Postcards4VA (https://addresses.postcards4va.com/) - lots of choices to write postcards for (you guessed it!) VA

I love what you called him, but we must organize and take the Midterms seriously if we win them Trump would be a lame duck. People aren’t happy with his recent bills he is passing the Tarrifs are going to affect a lot. I read an article about him today and he is slipping in the polls. We need someone that can lead the party and win The Midterms

Thanks, Scott! I was feeling so discouraged this morning and it's great to read your posts. One great thing that happened around here - in a very small town east of us, ICE showed up at the post office to demand lists of names and addresses and the postal staff told them to f off.

As for Colbert’s response; MAGA should appreciate his “scorched earth” approach as a sign of strength. (We know they won’t.) I liked the column in USA Today by Kelly Lawler that ended with: “His voice is too funny, too smart, and too important to go quietly into the night.”Hear, hear!

Scott, I almost felt sorry for Michael Velchik, the DOJ attorney tasked with presenting Trump’s case against Harvard. Velchik is a Harvard Law alum and knows better. He will be tarnished with the Trump stain for the rest of his legal career. When he drew the short straw, he, like previous DOJ attorneys should have resigned.

Expand full comment
Lori's avatar

By staying in this unlawful DOJ, and defending the US against Harvard University, he has caused irreparable damage to his career, reputation and his legal standing. He is Bondi & Blanche’s sacrificial lamb going to slaughter. Really BAD move on his part.

Aren't there other attorney opportunities for him to explore? Feels like this is a choice.

⬆️"Aren't there other attorney opportunities for him to explore?"

Probably not any longer. He worked in Trump 1.0 and I guess he didn't learn the lesson that everything Trump touches dies.

⬆️"Feels like this is a choice."

Exactly! He's a pretty young guy - he graduated Harvard Law in 2016 per his LinkedIn profile.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelkvelchik/

He will have to live with this choice a LONG time.

Harvard (and other law schools) should start publishing a list of attorneys that they apologize for. Something like "We are sorry these clowns got a degree from our school. They clearly didn't learn ethics or morality. If we could revoke the degrees, we would."
