In East Fishkill, NY residents came out to a rally last night to prevent Treetop from building a data center. “We can’t drink data!” is the rallying cry.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Thank you for sharing Judy! Amazing!

Dian Larkin's avatar

LOVE THAT - no you cannot drink data

I HOPE THEY WIN THE PROTEST - the time to stop data centers is BEFORE they buy land in your town - enact rules that they must FIRST appear before the community with a comprehensive report - either agreed to or denied - BEFORE they even buy land or just ban them permanently - maybe they should all go out into the deserts or maybe they should all go straight to hell

NO TO DATA CENTERS - JUST NO - & DEFINATELY NO TAX BREAKS - NO DATA CENTER INCENTIVES AT ALL

the opposite - demand ongoing major support if you accept a data center into your community - large annual donations to the coffers - building a community pool, new gymnasium, field track, tennis /powerball courts, library, etc. $$$ and one amenity annually or go somewhere else - they are a detriment & do not bring jobs they only bring lowered housing values and unsafe conditions

you will lose much with a data center near you - if you say yes make it worth your while

I vote.....they go STRAIGHT TO HELL!

As an ex-Floridian who has watched DeSantis and the GOP destroy this state--hearing that Alligator Alcatraz is now closed made my heart sing. Kudos to all the citizens who showed up over and over again to fight DeSantis and this concentration camp. Resistance pays off.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

It sure does Ann!

Dian Larkin's avatar

YES it is wonderful that horrifying center is closed but it is a drop in the bucket

DEFUND ICE please demand it of your lawmakers GOP & DEM - there is no room in a democracy for lawless lawmen without faces or accountability

Concentration camps should be not happening in America - and to CHIDLREN

DEFUND ICE & TAKE OVER THEIR DEATH PRISONS LESS TALK AND MORE ACTION

Ex Floridian here, too. Agree with your comment.

Teri Gelini's avatar

Current Floridian and have been here Al my life. My next hope is that we can keep data centers at bay!

Ann Kramer's avatar

Well they shut one down in Spokane WA so it seems a momentum is building against them.

Our power is huge if we will exercise it. And since water is a big demand—Florida can’t meet it without destroying the state —they simply do not have it.

Absolutely correct!

Glad the judges made the correct rulings. Voting is a right, not a privilege to be handed out. Trump needs more than a hand slap.

He could use the clink of ankle and wrist fetters though.

Judge Denise Casper sums so much of the craziness up in one sentence that really should end ALL discussion: “The Constitution does not grant the President any specific powers over elections.” States run elections.

A new hero on my list!

Mine too. The more the merrier

Every day, I’m reminded that even in noisy times, steady civic engagement still moves the needle. Our actions are building up to an avalanche

I would tell him he’s a terrible person and a worse governor. An embarrassment to all mankind that will soon be forgotten in the annals of history.

Ah! 😮‍💨 I feel better now. Thank you 🙏 🤣

I don't want DeSantis forgotten!!! I want everyone to remember and prosecute that vile, low life prick he and his supporters are who violently and deliberately persecuted thousands of innocent people outright and stole valuable $$ resources that should have gone to providing rightfully needed human services. What he and his knuckle-dragging cohorts could/should receive as severe punishment will never be enough for the inhuman treatment they have perpetuated. 👎👎👎👎🤬

He is a twisted hypocrite who delights in hurting others. I'll never his sneering pride when he was showing off his Alligator Alcatraz hell-hole.

It was a stunt, unwittingly financed by FL taxpayers, to suck up to MAGa. Worse still were the sickos who drove out there, not to protest the cruelty, but to grin & pose next to the AA sign😡

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

You can't forget DeSantis or any of the other MAGA, especially Stephen Miller and Elon Musk. All of them need to be prosecuted and thrown in jail - but each one in separate jails. Let the prisoners handle them especially the ones associated with the Epstein files. We CANNOT ever forget what the haters have done to this country.

Sister Stan's avatar

Yes except I hope this. corrupt rule bought and paid for by cowardly bought and paid for politicians is never forgotten and truth is revealed rather than rewritten

Stephen Brady's avatar

These Concentration Camps have only ever been about sequestering people and denying them en masse any right to Due Process. They are nothing but a MAGA fever dream.

Anne Catanzarite's avatar

Agree but don't want him forgotten..... prosecuted for ALL his crimes...... known and unknown.

Thank you, Scott - a few ounces of good news every day makes a big difference.

And thank you judges ,who keep on top of all the sneak attacks ,and citizens all over

the country who are fighting back. And voting!!

I don't seem to be able to drop a visual fire in the comments, so here's a verbal one. To those judges ... a bonfire as tall as the Statue of Liberty on top of Beacon Hill on the 4th of July, lighting up the night sky while the flames are fanned by the great sweeping wings of 250 bald eagles and the surrounding multitude sings The Star-Spangled Banner. GO, JUDGES, GO!!

Marie Rudden's avatar

I am thrilled that the two judges have observed their constitutional duty to protect our votes!

Ron DeSantis is correct when he said that Alligator Alcatraz fulfilled its completely racist and anti- law abiding immigrant GOP mission. Happily, our country won’t stand for this brutality. It is my understanding that a local Native American tribe also contributed mightily to shut the “detention center” down. Native Americans are all too familiar with this racism.

Deathsantis (Florida nickname for this idiot), is the biggest trump lapdog of all governors. Unfortunately for deathsantis, trump totally disrespects him. He is such a lier and I compare him to the jd Vance level of a man. That level is zero. Looking forward to he and his family gone from the governor house.

Every time judges and counties turn down Trump's evil plans, it gives me a surge of hope. What is Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries doing? Nothing vocal from them. Just being quiet and polite. Men, get your butts in gear and start being loud. MAGA is not being polite, we don't need to be either.

Regina Driscoll's avatar

This may seem like a minor point but I would appreciate it if you would stop calling the Everglades a “swamp.” It is a broad, slow-moving fresh water river, a unique environment with nothing else like it in the world and it needs to be preserved and protected. Calling it a swamp just gives rapacious developers another excuse to drain and ruin it. Nothing should be built in it but not because it is a swamp.

Thank you! Those of us that don’t live in or understand this amazing eco-system need to be educated. 🌻

92 million to a single porta-potty company !!💩

“Now that the feds say they’re emptying out this $1 million-a-day facility, it’s worth noting why they say they’re doing so and how shuttering the facility may cost taxpayers even more.”

And Matt Gaetz is back…😱

I would tell DeSantis that his “boots were made for walking”….😂
