We Called Out CNN, Then This Happened
Our pressure is working
Yesterday, CNN posted an attack on Tim Walz’s military record with a ridiculous headline reading, “As he prepares to take the stage, 48 Republicans accuse him of ‘abandoning’ his fellow National Guard Members.”
When I saw this, we immediately jumped into action and launched a massive pressure campaign to call them out for their blatant failure. Shortly after, CNN took down the bogus headline.
This wasn’t the first time we saw something like it on CNN, and it won’t be the last. But this one in particular really got under my skin.
For one, it doesn’t matter what a handful of random MAGA Republicans have to say, especially when there are so many high-profile speeches and stories to cover. And two, the storyline is a completely fabricated, pro-Trump hit piece.
We quickly had to weigh the risk of spreading the propaganda against the urgent need to call CNN out for this garbage. We ultimately decided to go for it.
At this point it was 5:46pm and the headline had been up for just a few minutes. I quickly began posting about it on multiple platforms, and urged everyone I could to demand CNN remove the story.
24 minutes later the piece was replaced with an article titled, “The Minnesota governor will introduce himself as a relatable Midwesterner who fights for the middle class.”
You have to wonder why they’d run the first headline at all, since over an hour earlier CNN aired Jake Tapper’s scathing criticism of the line of attack.
