Stupid, they haven't done anything illegal. Even TX Democratic representatives have the right to travel to another state. Abbott is panicking. He sounds a lot like someone else we notice does the same kind of nonsense.

Warren and Hochul are champions. So is IL governor Pritzker. Go team!

⬆️Abbott is panicking.

I agree. The TX Democratic House Caucus called his bluff and his cards really aren't as good as he is trying to pretend.

He can certainly fine them, but I think there are plenty of people willing to chip in to help cover the costs.

I think there's something in their constitution about neglecting the duties of their office that Abutt and Pisston are planning to use to attempt to remove them from office.

But at least the democrats are fighting hard and fighting back. Abbott thought they would all roll over and play dead like the rest of them. I guess it took the Texans to finally show the real fighting spirit of Americans. I have tears in my eyes.

With regard to Abbott’s threats to arrest the democratic legislators, I have to confess I don’t understand what law truly allows him to do that. It’s obviously not a criminal arrest, so I suppose he’s claiming it’s a civil infraction, but an infraction of what law? One thing for certain, the violent rhetoric continues to escalate and I worry about repetitions of attacks like the ones in Wisconsin.

Expand full comment
Robot Bender's avatar

The law doesn't allow it. Smoke and mirrors. Red meat for the MAGAs.

Expand full comment
Scott Dworkin's avatar

Yes civil, which means he shouldn't be able to get Trump to get the Feds involved---but Cornyn asked anyways!

Abbott is as complicit as Paxton with his threatening bluster to arrest! The attorney, representative Jolanda Jones says no law is being broken. Here’s to hoping the quorum busters can hold out for a few months to foil the Felon’s plan to redistrict. All Dem governors should be planning their own redistricting to keep on their back burners just in case other Red states follow this subterfuge pattern. Go Dems🙌🏻

We the People.

T L Mills's avatar

If only Maine could redistrict, but we haven't much in the way of population growth, so we're stuck at two and both are Dem. Well, Golden is a DINO but he's a lot better than the slimy R (Poliquin) we had before him.

My late husband was a real student of politics even though he was a neurosurgeon. He listened intently to everything especially on NPR. He heard her speak so cogently about issues when she first came on the scene as a professor, and became more public, he was so impressed. Her presentations stuck with him.

Men in politics, particularly republican men with easily threatened egos and no ability to answer pointed, intelligent arguments from a woman, always diminish her because of her gender. It’s disgusting. Warren has dealt with this phenomenon for years and years.

Hopefully, if we keep the pressure on TRump and his sycophants, they'll finally understand that they're digging their own graves politically. We MUST convey to voters how important their votes are and that without their votes, we'll continue to freefall into this downward spiral that TRump is responsible for.
