Good riddance to Joni Ernst. Her comment about everyone dying was awful. And then when she offered explain about the tooth fairy. Finally, she suggests that those who don't want to die but want eternal life should accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Religious speech doesn't belong in politics or government. By the way, I haven't accepted Jesus Christ (or anyone else) as my savior, but I have accepted him as my role model. I wish more Christians would do the same.

⬆️Good riddance to Joni Ernst.

Amen to that!

I hope more useless GOP politicians see the handwriting on the wall and decide to retire.

With so many voters tuned out, we shouldn't underestimate the big advantage that incumbency provides -- name recognition. I'm in NC and the fact that Tillis is out and that Gov. Roy Cooper is running for the open seat is HUGE! As of now, Michael Whatley is the frontrunner for the GOP bid to retain the senate seat. But I doubt most voters who aren't political junkies have a clue to who he is.

Nor should we underestimate the impact of the dramatic overperformance of Democrats in special elections. IMO, the special elections earlier this year in NE influenced Don Bacon to decide to retire. I'm sure Caitlin Drey's victory in Iowa (along with at least one brutal town hall meeting) had a big impact on Ernst's decision -- despite the spin that she has been considering retiring for some time.

Which brings me to my next point - we have 4 very important elections coming up in November!

* Gubenatiorial and state legislate races in NJ and VA

* Races in PA to retail three critical Supreme Court justices

* Prop 50 in CA

Please pick at least one of them and and get involved! Decisive wins this November could have a major impact on whether other GOP incumbents throw in the towel AND whether Democrats decide to throw their hat in the ring in what would otherwise be considered a tough district.

I have been posting a lot about postcarding and phonebanking opportunities for all of them:

And since Iowa wasn't considered a swing state, I doubt the short-sighted DNC devoted much $$ towards her Democratic challengers.

I was a freshman in college in May of 1970 (Northwestern) when 4 students who were protesting the war in Viet Nam were murdered by National Guard Troops in Ohio at Kent State. Neil Young wrote a song then called "4 Dead in Ohio". I would urge anyone not familiar with that song to listen to it again. It's exactly what he's singing about 55 years (!!) later. Those of us who are old enough to remember that day, May 4 1970, when we took to the streets and closed down 95% of major universities are seeing that those who do not learn from history will be forced to repeat it. They didn't learn from Trump's mishandling of Covid, they didn't learn from the two impeachments that failed to convict by the complicit GOP Senators, they haven't learned from the felony convictions, the hundreds of thousands of lies, the 90 indictments, E Jean Carroll, Bandi Lee, Tim Snyder, Robert Muller, and hundreds of other people who have had the courage to speak out against tyranny, fascism, and psychopathology. They haven't learned from their medicaid and medicare being stripped away from them. They haven't learned from taking innocent people off the street and sending them to gulags without due process. They haven't learned or have no idea of the damage that RFK Jr is doing to the health of every human being in the world. Thank you Scott for keeping up the fight. They want us to quit. They want us to be overwhelmed to the point where we give up and say we can't take it anymore. They will continue to gerrymander the crap out of any state they can. I say let them, and then prove to the voters in those gerrymandered districts that we have a better plan, a more honest and humane plan. A plan that is marked by integrity and competence. Because the only thing that is going to change this nightmare is an overwhelming electoral defeat in 2026- even in districts they are counting on. That is, if there is a fair and free election, which is in doubt.

I read your comment every day and I feel that a change is coming and that the Orange Felon feels it also and that why he trying to rig the 2026 election and beyond. But the Republicans better hope the economy turns around but it’s not going to, because Inflation is going up and then we have someone who should not be the head of our healthcare, I think that I had to much coffee and we are still living in chaos.

Ellen, I feel it, too! I think the reason no one has seen or heard from the orange man since this past Tuesday is because he is curled up under the covers in his bed. One of his handlers mistakenly left out the real news that talked about the millions of Americans that cannot stand him and think he's a fool and the leaders of countries around the world that ridicule and laugh at him instead of giving him the respect he mistakenly thinks he deserves. He's that chubby little crybaby on the playground that everyone makes fun of and laughs at. He refuses to come from under the covers because everyone is being so mean at him!

When I read that Joni Ernst was not running, I laughed out loud! She saw the writing on the wall the moment she uttered the words "We're all going to die". She knew she had just jettisoned her career and I am so glad that she did! I am so happy to see President Obama getting louder. I'm happy that Governor Newsom is giving it right back to the orange man, magas and republicans. So many are seeing in real time how thin-skinned all of them are! It was perfectly okay when he and his ilk were doing it to everybody else, but the minute it gets turned back on them, they come completely unglued! I love Governor Newsome's patriot store and especially where he is selling bibles but when you go to that, it says 'sorry, sold out!'. It is such a beautiful thing to see. They thought Democrats would just sit back and let them bully, intimidate and insult us while they took over our country. Now, they are finding out that Democrats will do everything they can to remain civil; however, push us too far and the gloves come off and we are absolutely ready to push back! Keep fighting, America! Stay strong and stay safe! Get out there this week-end and protest, protest, protest!!
