Great information, Scott! I am amplifying today due to health reasons.

It is costing one million dollars a day to have the National Guard in DC? That is scandalous! Congress must put a stop to that right away! Is this coming out of the military budget or the states’ budgets? Either way, it is a terrible waste of money!

I will check on where it comes from

The costs for deploying the National Guard are part of the deliberate effort to destroy the U.S. economy, per Putin's orders.

A million dollars per day? To pick up trash? How many NG personnel are deployed there, and at what cost per person? Why not use that money to hire more local workers to do the same thing?

They’re doing National Park Service work. Because trump cut NPS from 200 down to just 20, and they maintain all the landscaping etc there. Absurd..

Are you talking about the Congress both houses of which are controlled by Republicans? If so, it's not gonna happen. Having lived in D.C. from 1969 to 1985 (minus a couple of years), I know that most of Congress doesn't give a damn about D.C. even when the Dems are in charge. That's true even now, when (thanks to gentrification) the city no longer has a Black majority, and even though in the 1970s it achieved a measure of home rule. (We got to elect our own mayor and city council instead of having them appointed!)

I just read in NYT, that the federal government is paying 1 million a day for over 2000 national guard troops sent from 6 different states to Washington DC.

They’ve made “waste, fraud, abuse,” such a mantra, repeated endlessly, till it lost real meaning, and no longer any “ding en sich,” relevance to understanding.

I’ve worked for institutions, large and small, and know what waste looks like: it’s staffers throwing out excess publications, or food in dumpsters, or using unnecessary energy - there is no waste you can’t point to and say, Aha!

Fraud is a crime … so if they’ve found so much fraud against the taxpayer, when’s the perp walk?

Abuse? Well, yeah, I’d say we see evidence daily of powers and privileges being abused … all under the MAGA flag. They hit a triple recently, gilding the Oval Office: wasteful of effort, fraudulent in aesthetic imitation of gold, and abuse of any “good taste” left in the country.

All these National Guard fellas standing around on street corners and performing ‘make work’ have to leave their regular jobs, businesses and professions to spend weeks (months?) in cities like LA.

How many would have signed up for the Guard had they known they were actually joining a National Police Force run by an authoritarian President?

Scott, the drop in union membership has been one of the causes of the economic inequality in our country. The failure of workers to realize that most employers are not going to altruistically give them higher wages and more benefits has contributed to the disappearing middle class. There is strength in numbers!

What's really tragic is that so many white union members started voting for union-busting Republicans with Reagan. They loved the racism and the sexism, but they didn't read the fine print about cutting both corporate taxes and workers' rights.

Having lived through it from beginning to end, I agree: You are so right. And as I keep saying, one has to be 60+ years old to have reasonably adult memories of what came before it.

This is also why we need single payer health insurance. I wish the unions understood that they could make this happen and it would take that off of the bargaining table leaving only salaries.

I will be out among them today! I want my voice heard! I want there to be so many protesters that no one, especially maga, can say we were all paid to protest! Not only is that the most asinine statement to come out of this regime's mouth, not even the richest person in the world would have enough money! Let's keep fighting, America! Let them know with your voice today how very much you are against this regime! Stay strong and stay safe!

Age, now 87, creates obstacles to active, in person protest, but I can ALWAYS DONATE. Wouls SOMEONE, just tell me where and how.

Now, just a little metaphor: For Trump, Epstein is the uktimate game of "Whack A Mole": For every one he whacks down three or four more pop up. Dear Donald: You are losing this game; you will ever win it. Just throw in the towel, release ALL of the Epstein files - with such limited redactions as are TRULY necessary to protect innocent people. IF you try to sanitize your release, that will be screamingly OBVIOUS, and the pressure on you will double or triple.

WE ARE ALL WATCHING AND WAITING AND WE WILL NOT GO AWAY.
